Apple facing 6-mln-ruble fine over violation in localizing database of Russian users - court

MOSCOW. May 27 (Interfax) - The magistrate's court in Moscow's Tagansky district has registered the first administrative motion filed by Roskomnadzor against Apple because of a violation in localizing the database of Russian users in the Russian territory.

"The court has received an administrative motion in regard to Apple Inc. based on Part 8 Article 13.11 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses (an operator's failure to provide in the course of collection of personal data the recording, systematization, accumulation and storage of personal data of Russian users in databases localized on Russian territory)," the court told Interfax.

The offense is punishable with a fine of 1 to 6 million rubles.

The hearing will take place at Judicial District No. 422 of Moscow's Tagansky district on June 28.
