Moldovan president confirms authorities' commitment to neutrality
CHISINAU. May 27 (Interfax) - Moldova remains a neutral and peaceful state, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said.
When commenting on UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss' statement that it is necessary to provide weapons assistance to Moldova, Sandu told reporters on Friday, "We have not had such discussions. Moldova is a neutral and peaceful country, which does not encroach on any other countries."
However, "Moldova's defense sector is very weak," Sandu said.
"It needs to be strengthened, including via peaceful initiatives within the framework of the European Union," she said.
