Kudrin: Russia shouldn't rush to exit international agreements and contracts

MOSCOW. May 25 (Interfax) - There is no need for Russia to hurry to leave international agreements and contracts, head of the Accounts Chamber and former Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said.

"Russia as an economy is very seriously tied to other economies of the world. We operate in a global economic system. We have a lot of exports and a lot of imports. [...] Russia can't produce everything itself, that's just categorical. Therefore we mustn't hurry to leave various kinds of international agreements, standards," Kudrin said at the State Duma on Wednesday.

"Asian countries also operate within the framework of these standards," Kudrin said. "Including educational, I want to remind you. [...] Trade, economic, social conventions and agreements," he said.

"That's why we don't need to rush to leave, but understand in general that we should receive the maximum effect from international cooperation," Kudrin said.

Kudrin expressed hope that despite the current restrictions on imports into the country, it "will refocus." "And we'll take advantage of global achievements in the sphere of technology in any case, in the spheres of other goods tied to the investment and consumer cycles, as well," he said.
