Ukrainian govt plans to unveil Ukraine recovery plan at Lugano conference - PM

KYIV. May 25 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian authorities plan to present a plan for the country's reconstruction at a conference in Lugano at the beginning of July, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

"Ukraine expects that the Lugano Reform Conference will become a powerful driver and political platform for further steps to rebuild and develop Ukraine, the peaceful future or our country and the stability of the democratic world," the Ukrainian government's press service quoted Shmyhal as saying after a press conference with President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

It has been decided that the Reform Conference, which will take place in Lugano on July 4-5, 2022, will focus on the reconstruction of Ukraine, the prime minister said, adding that during the event Ukraine will present a draft recovery plan.

"The plan will encompass the restoration and development of infrastructure and housing, structural modernization and restart of the economy, implementation of European standards in all areas, measures to combat unemployment, support vulnerable groups, restoration and preservation of cultural heritage. We believe that we will receive support for the project from all partners and attract new participants in the reconstruction of Ukraine," Shmyhal said.

The prime minister called on the international community to mobilize financial assistance to help implement the Plan for Reconstruction and Development of Ukraine.
