MOSCOW. May 23 (Interfax) - Rosneft has received a letter of resignation from Karin Kneissl, Austria's former foreign minister, regarding her departure as a member of the oil company's board of directors, Rosneft said in a statement.

"The letter of resignation indicates that it comes into force as of May 20. The letter also contains the refusal to extend the authority of Ms. Kneissl on the company's board of directors for a second term," Rosneft said.

"Regarding the appeal, the company thanks Karin Kneissl for the joint work over the past ten months that has featured the difficult pandemic and international situations," Rosneft said.

Going forward, Rosneft is counting on cooperation with Ms. Kneissl as a prominent representative of the international expert community, the press service added.

Former German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and CEO of Nord Stream 2 AG Matthias Warnig had previously announced that they each were unable to continue in their respective positions on Rosneft's board of directors, and that they were resigning.
