Russia registers 5,089 new cases of Covid-19, 96 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. May 20 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 5,089 new cases of Covid-19, as well as 2,081 hospitalizations and 96 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Friday.

"As of May 20, Russia reported 5,089 new cases of Covid-19, and 2,081 patients were hospitalized, down 1.7% from the previous day," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has increased in 40 Russian constituent territories, has decreased in 38, and has remained unchanged in seven, it said.

Another 96 patients died from Covid-19 over the past day, as against 97 the day before.

The daily morbidity has grown by 162 cases from 4,927 reported on Thursday.

"Meanwhile, 6,173 patients have recovered, up 3.7% from May 19," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 18,283,706 cases of Covid-19, including 378,168 deaths and 17,676,801 recoveries.
