MSCI stops calculation of group of Russian indexes

MOSCOW. May 20 (Interfax) - MSCI is stopping calculation of the group of Russian indices due to an insufficient number of securities, the provider said in a statement.

The indices that will no longer be provided by MSCI include MSCI RenCap Russia Top Liquid Stocks Index, MSCI Russia Select Size & Liquidity 10/40 Index, MSCI Russia ex Energy Select Size & Liquidity 10/40 Index, MSCI Russia Select Size & Liquidity Index and MSCI Russia Issuers capped to 5% Index.

Previously, MSCI stopped the calculation of the MSCI Russia 10/40 and MSCI Russia 25/50 indices.

The decisions will take effect on June 1, 2022.

As reported, the provider removed shares of Alrosa , Moscow Credit Bank (MKB), Enel Russia , FGC UES , Gazprom , Inter RAO , LUKOIL , Mechel preferred shares , Mosenergo shares , Novatek global depositary receipts (GDRs) , OGK-2 , Rosneft , Sberbank , Severstal , Sovcomflot , ordinary and preferred shares of Surgutneftegas , ordinary shares of Tatneft , shares of Unipro and Rusal , American depository receipts (ADRs) of MTS . PhosAgro GDRs were removed after close of trading on May 19, and Magnit GDRs will be removed after close on May 20, 2022.
