Biden announces another package of military assistance to provide Ukraine with artillery, radars

WASHINGTON. May 20 (Interfax) - United States President Joe Biden has said that he is allocating another batch of military assistance to Ukraine.

"And today, I am announcing another package of security assistance that will provide additional artillery, radars, and other equipment to Ukraine," the U.S. president said in a statement published by the White House on Thursday.

Biden promised that, with this kind of assistance, the U.S. would "further strengthen Ukraine - both on the battlefield and at the negotiating table."

"We will keep security, economic, food, and humanitarian assistance flowing to Ukraine, across the region, and around the world," the U.S. president said.

The majority of U.S. senators on Tuesday spoke in favor of holding a vote on a $39.8-billion aid package for Ukraine and its allies.

The bill was supported by 86 senators, while another 11 voted against it.

"I praise the US Senate's approval of the Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2022. $40 billion is a significant U.S. contribution to the restoration of peace and security in Ukraine, Europe and the world," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Twitter.
