CBR allows banks to sell FX cash to public without restriction except for dollars, euros from May 20

MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax) - The Central Bank of Russia has allowed banks to sell members of the public any foreign currency cash apart from dollars and euros without restriction from May 20, the regulator said in a statement.

Restrictions on the sale of cash dollars and euros remain in effect. Members of the public may until September 9, 2022 buy only dollars and euros that bank received at tills after April 9. Those restrictions previously applied to all types of foreign currency cash.

Permission to sell without restrictions a currency other than the U.S. dollar and euro is linked to the availability of leftover foreign banknotes at banks.
