Miratorg starts producing feed for valuable fish to replace imports

MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax) - Miratorg Agribusiness Holding, one of Russia's leading meat producers, has launched production of feed for valuable types of fish, starting with trout, to replace imports.

The fish feed production line was launched at a Miratorg plant in the Pristensky district of Kursk Region that makes about 100 types of products, including premium and super premium food for cats and dogs, the company said in a press release. The plant has capacity to produce up to 46,500 tonnes of various products per year.

The company said it is producing granulated feed for young trout that contains fish meal, grains, chicken fat, fish fat, amino acids, vitamins, minerals and other ingredients.

Miratorg plans to gradually increase its feed production and assortment to meet the growing needs of fish farms in Karelia, Murmansk and other Russian regions. The company said its feed is "on par with foreign equivalents in terms of fish rearing and biological characteristics, which in future will facilitate import substitution thanks to affordability and physical accessibility."

The company said it invested an estimated 4.8 billion rubles in the plant in the Pristensky district.
