Industry and Trade Ministry discussing participation in car cos in Russia with several Chinese concerns

MOSCOW. May 17 (Interfax) - Participation in Russian automotive enterprises is being discussed with several Chinese auto concerns, Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov told journalists.

"Yes, we're discussing. With several producers at a time," Manturov said in response to a question on the prospects of Chinese concerns participating in Russian automotive enterprises.

He did not say which Chinese producers are participants in the discussions or what projects they are interested in.

Chinese automobile brands were also actively increasing their presence on the Russian auto market prior to the crisis. According to the Association of European Businesses, the total share of the three main Chinese players on the Russian passenger vehicle market, Geely, Chery, and Haval, which has local production in the Tula region, rose from 2.8% to 6.3% last year.
