Kazakh President Tokayev proposes including CSTO in UN peacekeeping efforts

NUR-SULTAN. May 16 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called on his counterparts from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states to join UN-led peacekeeping efforts.

"All necessary instruments have been formed, and, in our opinion, it is already necessary to set the task for the CSTO to join UN peacekeeping activities," Tokayev said at a CSTO summit in Moscow on Monday.

"This step will strengthen the legal standing of the CSTO and will ensure the practice of the organization's participation in international peacekeeping operations," he said.
