U.S. senators' visit to Ukraine demonstrates solid bipartisan support - Zelensky

KYIV. May 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) - A visit of a U.S. Senate delegation led by Republican Minority leader Mitch McConnell to Ukraine demonstrates a solid bipartisan support and strong connections between Ukraine and the American people, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video address on Saturday night.

"We have discussed various areas of assistance to Ukraine, including defense and finance. I thanked them for the historic lend-lease decision," Zelensky said.

Zelensky also said he was hoping the U.S. Senate would rapidly approve an additional financing package for Ukraine, which had been discussed at the House of Representatives and enlarged from $33 billion to $39.6 billion.

According to Associated Press, the delegation also included Republican Senators Susan Collins from Maine and John Barrasso and John Cornyn from Texas.
