Russia registers 4,543 new cases of Covid-19, 89 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. May 16 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 4,543 new cases of Covid-19, alongside 1,127 hospitalizations and 89 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Monday.

"As of May 16, Russia recorded 4,543 new cases of Covid-19, and 1,127 patients were hospitalized, up 0.2% from the previous day," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 33 Russian constituent territories, has decreased in 40, and has remained unchanged in 12, it said.

Another 89 patients died from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, as against 99 the day before.

The daily morbidity has declined by 413 from 4,956 cases reported on Sunday.

"Over the past day, 5,379 have recovered, down 13.2% from May 15," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 18,264,836 cases of Covid-19, including 377,759 deaths and 17,652,558 recoveries.
