Number of people entering Ukraine exceeding number of those leaving it in past 3 days - Border Service

KYIV. May 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The number of people entering Ukraine through its western borders has exceeded the number of those travelling in the opposite direction for the third day in a row since May 9, bringing the surplus of arrivals over departures to about 16,000 people over this time, the Ukrainian State Border Service said.

About 32,000 people left Ukraine on May 12, compared to over 35,000 on May 11, while more than 39,000 people entered the country on both dates, it said.

The number of vehicles carrying humanitarian cargo cleared for crossing the border declined to 191 on May 12 from 232 on May 11, it said.

According to the United Nations Refugee Agency information as of 1:00 p.m. May 11, a total of 6.03 million people had left Ukraine after February 24, including 3.273 million for Poland, over 951,500 for Romania and Moldova, over 785,000 for Russia, over 583,000 for Hungary, over 409,500 for Slovakia, and over 27,000 for Belarus.

The Ukrainian State Border Service said 1.627 million people have entered Ukraine since February 28.
