Siemens terminating service contracts with RZD on May 13, including for Sapsan maintenance

MOSCOW. May 12 (Interfax) - Siemens is terminating its service contracts with OJSC Russian Railways (RZD) on May 13, including for the maintenance of Sapsan trains.

"Sanctions and the requirements that emanate from them make it impossible to further fulfill our contractual obligations to OJSC RZD. Considering the scale of European Union sanctions against the Russian Federation, as well as the response measures that have been adopted and those that could be and their serious consequences from the point of view of the everyday operational activities of the Siemens Mobility company, a decision has been made to wind up our business in Russia, including leaving existing joint enterprises and terminating service contracts for technical maintenance with OJSC RZD from May 13," the company told Interfax.

All service contracts are meant here, including for the servicing of Sapsan trains, it said.
