Inbound traffic on Ukraine's western border exceeds outbound traffic after May 9 - border service

KYIV. May 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The number of people who crossed into Ukraine through its western border on May 10 was once again larger than the number of those who left Ukraine via the western border on the same day, the State Border Service of Ukraine said on Facebook, adding that the last time the same situation was observed was on May 2.

More than 29,000 people left Ukraine on May 10, as compared to 27,000 the day before, and 34,000 people arrived in Ukraine on May 10, up from 25,000 the day before, the State Border Service said.

The number of vehicles with humanitarian cargoes cleared for entry to Ukraine in the past day declined to 166 from 219 on May 9, it said.

Data released by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees as of 1:00 p.m. on May 9 show that 5.918 million people have left Ukraine since February 24. Of them, Poland has taken 3.234 million, Romania and Moldova 940,040, Russia 739,420 (as of May 6), Hungary 572,760, Slovakia 404,460, and Belarus 26,990.

A total of 1.561 million people have arrived in Ukraine since February 28, the State Border Service said.
