Czechia takes Russia's place in UN Human Rights Council
MOSCOW. May 11 (Interfax) - The UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution to replace Russia with Czechia as a member of the UN Human Rights Council by 157 votes - at least 97 votes were necessary to do so.
Czechia will be a member of the UN Human Rights Council through December 31, 2023.
Russia was suspended from the UN Human Rights Council after a special session of the UN General Assembly discussed the Ukraine situation on April 7.
The UN noted that Russia still had a seat on the Council but lost the right to vote and to address the Council.
