Finnish chemical company Kemira exiting Russian market

MOSCOW. May 6 (Interfax) - Finnish chemicals manufacturer Kemira is withdrawing from the Russian market and ceasing operations in Russia, the company said in a statement.

On March 1, the company announced its decision to stop supplies to Russia and Belarus in connection with the Russian special operation in Ukraine and is now continuing preparations to wind down its business.

"The full completion of the process will take some time due to the local process and legal requirements," the company said.

Kemira has 45 employees in Russia. In 2021, Russia represented around 3% of Kemira's total revenue with a main focus on the pulp & paper sector.

Kemira mainly produces chemicals for the paper and pulp industry, for wastewater treatment as well as the oil and mining industry. Revenues in 2021 were 2.7 billion euros across 62 enterprises with 5,000 employees. The company's products are sold in 100 countries.
