Sovcomflot planning to sell 'older' part of fleet amid sanctions
MOSCOW. May 6 (Interfax) - Sovcomflot (SCF) intends to sell the "older" part of its fleet, as well as ships whose operations are limited due to sanctions imposed on Russian vessels, the company's press service told Interfax.
Earlier media reports about the sale of the fleet and plans to sell one third of the company's vessels due to sanctions are an exaggeration, SCF said.
"Older tonnage is being offered for sale in the market, as well as vessels whose operation does not seem viable due to the restrictions imposed on the Russian merchant fleet," the company said.
As of the end of February, Sovcomflot's own and chartered fleet consisted of 134 vessels, according to information on the company's website. The list included 108 tankers of various classes, 14 gas carriers and 11 specialized vessels.
