Wildfire alert declared in 46 regions of Russia - Emergency Situations Ministry
MOSCOW. May 5 (Interfax) - The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry is monitoring the wildfire situation in the country, and a wildfire alert has been declared in 46 regions, acting Emergency Situations Minister Alexander Chupriyan said on Thursday.
"Wildfires have been observed in 77 constituent territories, or practically in every one. A wildfire alert has been declared in 46 constituent territories of Russia," Chupriyan said in a live program of the Rossiya-24 television channel (VGTRK).
Dry vegetation has burned up on millions of hectares, and there are fatalities, he said.
The wildfire risk is the highest in the Kurgan and Irkutsk regions and the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Chupriyan said.
