Russia registers 5,011 new cases of Covid-19, lowest number since Sept 3, 2020, in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. May 5 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 5,011 new cases of Covid-19, the lowest number since early September 2020, as well as 3,248 hospitalizations and 139 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.

"As of May 5, Russia recorded 5,011 new cases of Covid-19, while 3,248 patients were hospitalized, up 132.3% from the previous day," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 66 Russian regions, decreased in 12 and remained unchanged in seven, it said, adding that 1,398 patients were hospitalized the day before.

Another 139 patients died from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, as against 129 deaths reported on Wednesday.

There has been a slight decline in daily morbidity, from 5,093 cases reported on Wednesday to 5,011 infections, which is the lowest number since September 3, 2020, when Russia saw 4,995 new cases of Covid-19.

"Another 8,723 patients recovered over the past day, up 30.9% from May 4," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 18,211,178 cases of Covid-19, including 376,560 deaths and 17,578,659 recoveries.
