Ukraine's grain harvest may drop 34% in 2022 year-on-year - Alfa-Bank Ukraine analysts

KYIV. May 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Alfa-Bank Ukraine analysts expect Ukraine's grain harvest to decline to 56 million tonnes in 2022, becoming the country's lowest grain harvest over the past decade and marking a 34% drop from last year's record high figures.

"Even this historically small harvest will ensure a substantial stock of grain for export. However, the available transport channels do not make it possible today to ship such amounts of goods abroad," the bank's report quoted director of the Alfa-Bank Ukraine analytical department Oleksiy Blinov as saying.

The bank's analysts also expect shortages of fertilizers and plant protection products to dent this year's harvest in Ukraine to a certain extent.
