MSCI to cease measuring MSCI Russia 10/40 index

MOSCOW. May 4 (Interfax) - MSCI intends to cease measuring and providing the MSCI Russia 10/40 index for the large and mid-cap segments of the Russian market, the international investment research firm said in a statement.

The MSCI Russia 10/40 is derived from the MSCI Russia index. Given that MSCI had previously decided to remove the securities of 19 Russian issuers from the MSCI Russia indices, the MSCI Russia 10/40 will no longer be able to satisfy the minimum number of instruments included in it. MSCI will suspend measuring and providing the index as of May 6, 2022.

"Since it is unlikely that there will be a sufficient number of securities in the MSCI Russia 10/40 in the near future, MSCI will cease measuring the index following the results of the May half-year review of the indices. The changes will take effect on June 1, 2022," MSCI said in a press release.
