Paramount suspends airing of its channels in Russia
MOSCOW. April 28 (Interfax) - Paramount has suspended the airing of its channels Nickelodeon, Paramount Channel, Paramount Comedy and MTV in Russia.
As Interfax correspondents found out, the channels are no longer available to users of certain telecom providers, such as Beeline and Rostelecom. Instead, viewers see a notice, which reads, "Dear viewers! For reasons beyond our control, the broadcast of the channel has been temporarily suspended in the territory of the Russian Federation." Rostelecom reports that TV channels have become unavailable "at the demand of the copyright holder."
The Kabelshchik professional Telegram channel said earlier that telecom providers had been receiving Paramount notices regarding the shutdown of its channels starting April 28. The company said on March 16 it would do so in connection with the sanctions against Russia.
VH1 European, Nickelodeon, Nickelodeon HD, NickToons, NickToons HD, Nick Jr., MTV HD, MTV Live HD, MTV Rocks, Paramount Channel HD, Paramount Comedy and Paramount Comedy HD channels will become unavailable in Russia.
