Uzbek authorities to create $1,000 package for foreign tourists to explore Tashkent

TASHKENT. April 27 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan will create a $1,000 package of services for foreign tourists to increase their interest in Tashkent, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has made the relevant proposal.

"A package of services 'for $1,000' will be formed in Tashkent in order to ensure that foreign tourists stay in the city for at least three days. This package will include visits to water and theme parks, gastronomic and shopping streets, concerts, shows and festivals held in the Uzbek capital," the Uzbek presidential press service said in a statement on Wednesday following a videoconference on measures to expand tourist services and develop the tourism infrastructure in the country.

The main tourist destinations in Uzbekistan are the cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, Urgench, and Khiva. As was noted at the meeting, Tashkent is usually a transit point for tourists, where foreign guests do not stay for more than one or two days. The new offer will allow tourists to get acquainted with attractions of the Uzbek capital.

In early March, the Uzbek and Russian governments signed a plan of 20 measures to create conditions for growth of tourist flow between the two countries. Thus, there are plans to hold the Year of Tourism in Russia and Uzbekistan, to develop and launch the Great Silk Road cross-border tourist route, to create special packages of festival, gastronomic, wine, extreme, winter and other types of tourism. Besides, familiarization tours for students from Russia and Uzbekistan are planned.

In 2021, Uzbekistan was visited by 190,500 tourists from Russia, the Uzbek State Statistics Committee said.
