Duma deputies maintain direct contact with number of MEPs - Slutsky
ST. PETERSBURG. April 27 Interfax) - Direct communication between Russian Duma deputies and European parliamentarians has remained despite Russia no longer working at some European parliamentarian platforms, Duma foreign affairs committee chairman Leonid Slutsky said.
"We did and we do talk to a large number of parliamentarians directly, who have remained on the position of common sense, we don't need any platform to communicate with them," Slutsky told journalists on Wednesday.
There are also many formats for working in regions such as Africa, East Asia and Latin America, he said. "Many of their current leaders rely on common sense, on the multipolar architecture," Slutsky said.
Speaking before the Council of Legislators earlier on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that working on several international parliamentary platforms, including the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, had become pointless and those organizations irrelevant.
