Shmyhal and Romania's Ciuca discussed broadening of export and transit corridors in Romania

KYIV. April 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and his Romanian counterpart Nicolae Ciuca discussed the possibility of enlarging export and transit corridors running through Romania and the use of the additional capacity of Romanian seaports.

"We discussed the possibility of broadening the existing export and transit corridors across the territory of Romania and the use of the additional capabilities of Romanian seaports and border crossings between our countries," Shmyhal said at a joint press briefing with Cuica on Tuesday evening.

The sides also discussed steps to rebuild damaged populated localities in Ukraine and Romania's participation in such projects.

Cooperation between Ukraine and Romania in the energy sector, the economy, business projects, and transit potential was discussed as well.

Shmyhal thanked Romania for opening hubs in its territory to facilitate international technical assistance and humanitarian aid for Ukraine and for helping Ukrainian refugees.

The Ukrainian government's press service, in turn, said that Shmyhal proposed considering the prospect of opening the Dyakivtsi (Ukraine) - Rakovec (Romania) border crossing as soon as possible and subsequently granting it the status of a border crossing for cargo transport.
