Denmark becomes first donor of Energy Community's fund to rebuild Ukraine's energy infrastructure

KYIV. April 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Denmark has become the first donor of the fund established by the Energy Community to help rebuild destroyed energy infrastructure in Ukraine, Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko said.

"We sincerely thank Denmark for its response to Ukraine's appeal to extend urgent support to the energy sector," Halushchenko was quoted as saying by the Ukrainian Energy Ministry's press release published on Monday.

The size of Denmark's contribution to the fund has not been disclosed.

Director of the Energy Community Secretariat Artur Lorkowski, in turn, assured the Ukrainian side that this money will be transferred to Ukraine as soon as possible.

"The Secretariat will work promptly together with the Energy Ministry of Ukraine to ensure that all contributions are spent on covering the crucial needs of the Ukrainian energy sector," Lorkowski said, according to the ministry's press service.

As reported, in early April 2022 the Energy Community set up a fund to help rebuild destroyed energy infrastructure in Ukraine. The fund's donors should be predominantly EU member states, international companies and corporations.
