Rosatom forecasts freight traffic via NSR in 2022 at 2021 level

MOSCOW. April 25 (Interfax) - Rosatom expects the volume of freight transported via the Northern Sea Route (NSR) in 2022 to be approximately at the level of 2021, Kirill Komarov, the Russian state nuclear energy corporation's first deputy head, said at a meeting of the economic policy committee in the Federation Council.

"We are responsible specifically for growth in cargo traffic. The lower part of the [presentation] slide indicates that we are consistently exceeding all planned indicators. The plan for this year is actually nearly equal to the figure achieved last year," Komarov said.

According to Komarov's presentation, Rosatom forecasts freight traffic via the NSR to be 35 million tonnes in 2022.

As previously reported, the volume of cargo transported via the NSR increased 5.7% to 34.85 million tonnes in 2021.
