Kyiv awaiting deliveries of Western heavy hardware, has not received fighter jets thus far - Zelensky

KYIV. April 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukraine is awaiting deliveries of heavy military hardware from Western states in the near future, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, adding that, however, no fighter jets have been provided thus far as part of the military assistance.

"As a matter of fact, we do not have fighter jets. No such planes have been delivered to us thus far. I confirm today that relations with the West have warmed, and we see attempts to increase support with regard to heavy hardware as well. We are waiting for it and think that it is true, we will have it," Zelensky said in an interview with the French television channel BFM TV. This video was published on the Telegram channel of Zelensky's Office on Thursday.

As regards deliveries of heavy military hardware, the Ukrainian side "has tentative dates and tentative guarantees," he said.

When asked whether Ukraine has already received the weapons promised by the French side, Zelensky said, "We have received some items."

"As for details, I am not ready to openly speak about it. But there are things that we look forward to, things that we look forward to very much. We have received a signal that we will have a chance to receive them in the near future," he said.
