Zelensky proposes extending Ukraine martial law until May 25
KYIV. April 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed extending martial law by 30 more days until May 25.
The relevant bill was registered by the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday, the parliament's website stated.
It proposes to "extend the validity period of martial law in Ukraine by a 30-day period starting from 5:30 a.m. April 25, 2022."
It was reported that Zelensky had signed Decree No. 64/2022 "On the imposition of martial law in Ukraine," voted in by 300 people's deputies on February 24.
The decree imposed martial law from 5:30 a.m. February 24, 2022 for 30 days. On March 15 the Rada voted for a 30-day extension from 05:30 a.m. March 26 through April 24, inclusively.
