Polish PM opens container town in Lviv for internally displaced Ukrainians, says similar towns will appear around Kyiv

KYIV. April 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, during a visit to Lviv, opened a container town able to accommodate 300-350 internally displaced persons and announced the construction of similar towns around Kyiv.

"There will be more such container towns. 300-350 people find shelter there. Our envoys are going to cities around Kyiv and will build similar towns," Morawiecki was quoted as saying by the Chancellery of the prime minister of Poland on Twitter on Tuesday.

Morawiecki also called on the European Commission to launch a solidarity fund for Ukraine.

"I appeal to the European Commission to launch the solidarity fund for Ukraine so that there will be new money," he said.

Ten million people had to leave their homes in Ukraine already, Morawiecki said, adding that 2.5 million of them live in Poland, but six million are inside Ukraine.
