Ukraine expects PM Shmyhal's visit to U.S. to promote its macro-financial stabilization - presidential official

KYIV. April 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal's visit to the United States is intended to promote macro-financial assistance to Ukraine and macro-financial stabilization of its economy, Andriy Sybiha, deputy chief of the Ukrainian presidential office, said during a TV marathon on Monday.

"Important meetings have been planned" during Shmyhal's visit to the U.S., Sybiha said.

"The president had a conversation with [International Monetary Fund Managing Director] Kristalina Georgieva yesterday, and they discussed the agenda of this visit," Sybiha said.

"While talking with U.S. President Joe Biden last time, the Ukrainian president reaffirmed giving agrement for appointing a U.S. ambassador. We expect [the U.S. embassy] to start its full-scale functioning as soon as possible. Any presence of embassies enhances coordination that we need today," he said.

The Ukrainian president will continue making addresses to the parliaments of different countries, Sybiha said.

"He has spoken to 25 parliaments, and his address to the Portuguese parliament is planned for this week," he said.
