Russia records 8,640 new cases of Covid-19, 235 related deaths over past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. April 19 (Interfax) - Russia has recorded 8,640 daily cases of the novel coronavirus infection, 3,462 coronavirus-related hospitalizations, and 235 deaths over the past 24 hours, the coronavirus operative response headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Russia identified 8,640 new cases of Covid-19 as of April 19. The number of related hospitalizations has increased by 227.2% to 3,462 compared to the previous day," it said.

The number of daily cases of coronavirus has decreased by 794 from 9,434 on Monday.

The number of hospitalizations has increased in 77, declined in four, and remained the same in another four Russian constituent territories, it said. Monday saw 1,058 hospitalizations of patients with coronavirus.

Another 235 patients with coronavirus have died nationwide over the past 24 hours, compared to 213 related deaths on Monday.

"As many as 16,763 people have recovered over the past 24 hours, which is 17.0% more than on April 18," it said.

Over the entire period of the pandemic, Russia has identified 18,092,791 cases of coronavirus, 373,948 related deaths, and 17,407,228 recoveries.
