Medvedchuk proposes his exchange for Ukrainian troops, Mariupol residents

KYIV. April 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian parliamentarian Viktor Medvedchuk, who has been detained by the Ukrainian Security Service, has appealed to the presidents of Russia and Ukraine to be exchanged for Ukrainian troops and civilians currently staying in Mariupol.

"I, Viktor Volodymyrovych Medvedchuk, would like to address Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asking them to have myself exchanged by the Ukrainian side for the defenders of Mariupol and [its] residents who are staying there and have no opportunity to exit safely via humanitarian corridors," Medvedchuk said in a video address circulated by the Ukrainian Security Service on Monday.
