No plans to open humanitarian corridors in Ukraine on Monday - Deputy PM
KYIV. April 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) - There will be no humanitarian corridors available in Ukraine on Monday, April 18, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk said.
"It has been decided not to open humanitarian corridors today for security reasons," Vereshchuk said on social media.
Ukraine will do its best to reopen humanitarian corridors as soon as possible, she said.
Meanwhile, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine said on social media that passenger traffic across the Ukrainian border with the EU and Moldova dipped by 18.5% to 57,000 on Sunday, April 17.
According to the service, nearly 29,000 persons crossed into Ukraine on April 17, as against 38,000 the day before, including about 26,000 vs. 35,000 Ukrainians.
Traffic from Ukraine decreased from almost 32,000 to more than 28,000 day on day, it said.
The number of trucks carrying humanitarian aid dropped from 500 on Saturday to 380 on Sunday, the service said.
According to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, 4.87 million people have left Ukraine since February 24, including 2.76 million for Poland, 803,780 for Romania and Moldova, 484,730 for Russia, 458,650 for Hungary, 335,24o for Slovakia and 22,830 for Belarus.
