Human Rights Watch website blocked in Russia
MOSCOW. April 18 (Interfax) - Access to the Human Rights Watch website has been blocked in Russia on the orders from the Russian Prosecutor General's Office over an article on the Russian operation in Ukraine.
According to the universal webpage and website blocking service of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor), access has been restricted to a page of the Human Rights Watch website on the order from the Prosecutor General's Office dated April 12, while the rest of the website will remain accessible.
Still, the website is based on the https protocol and the blocking of one page makes the entire website inaccessible in the Russian territory.
An Interfax correspondent tried to access the website but failed.
The Human Rights Watch office in Russia was shut down by the Justice Ministry on April 8, alongside another 14 foreign non-governmental organizations, including Amnesty International, the Carnegie Foundation, and the Heinrich Boll Foundation.
