Ukraine has received $924 mln in donations raised abroad - head of Zelensky's Office

KYIV. April 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The amount of charitable donations received by Ukraine from citizens and corporations in different countries has reached almost $924 million, and this assistance keeps arriving, the Office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on its website.

"It [this money] is being transferred primarily to accounts of UN agencies and international humanitarian organizations, which, in turn, are using them to help our refugees in different countries," Andriy Yermak, head of Zelensky's Office and chairman of the Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian And Social Issues, said.

The most donations have arrived from the United Kingdom (47%), the Netherlands (around 18%), the Czech Republic (11%), and the United States (some 8%).

Deputy head of Zelensky's Office Yulia Sokolovska, in turn, said that 270,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid have been brought into Ukraine over the past 50 days. Food has been purchased from Ukrainian producers to compile food packages for some 12 million Ukrainians.

Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, for her part, said that logistics centers accepting humanitarian aid from international donors and partners were set up on the western border with Poland, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, and Slovakia during the first week since the start of the Russian special operation.

The Lviv region has become Ukraine's largest humanitarian aid hub, accepting 51% of the overall amount of cargoes arriving from abroad.

Humanitarian aid hubs, which have been opened across Ukraine, are distributing aid among regional military administrations, local charities, local authorities, non-governmental organizations, and volunteers, deputy head of the President's Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko said.
