Zelensky holds conference on economy with Cabinet members

KYIV. April 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has held a conference on the economy with members of the Cabinet of Ministers, the presidential office said.

"Discussed the resumption of businesses' work, macroeconomic stability, state expenditures, and other important issues with Cabinet members. The Ukrainian economy is working," it said.

In particular, the participants mentioned the resumption of the heavy industry, metallurgy, and engineering sectors' operations.

They attached particular significance to macroeconomic stability and inflation. The president listened to reports from officials on aspects of activity of relevant ministries, it said.

The participants also discussed the finalization of the initial section of a questionnaire for Ukraine to acquire the status as a candidate country for EU membership, which President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen handed to Zelensky in Kyiv on April 8.

The conference also dealt with the acceptance of humanitarian aid, the state of public expenditures, the functioning of Ukraine's power system, the conclusion of the fall and winter heating season, operations of the Ukrainian railway company Ukrzaliznytsia, the sowing campaign, and an environment protection policy.
