Russian Energy Ministry creating department for development of gas sector

MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax) - Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov has decided to make changes to the ministry's structure, Shulginov's press service said in a statement.

A new department of gas sector development has been established, which will be primarily engaged in implementation of the Russian president's instructions on social gasification and additional gasification of the country's regions.

Furthermore, the Department of the Coal Industry and the Department of International Cooperation have been set up to replace the abolished Department of Foreign Economic Activity and Development of Fuel Markets via redistribution of existing vacancies.

The Department of Project Activities and Digital Technologies has been transformed into the Department of Digital Transformation, which will fully concentrate the functions of digital development of the ministry and the fuel and energy sector.

The Department of Consolidated State Policy and Digital Transformation has been renamed the Department of State Energy Policy, whose responsibilities will also include hydrogen energy, project activities and information and analytical support.
