Medvedchuk's wife appeals to Erdogan to help free husband

MOSCOW. April 13 (Interfax) - Oksana Marchenko, the wife of detained Ukrainian opposition politician Viktor Medvedchuk, has appealed to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to facilitate the release of her husband detained by Ukrainian special services.

"I am asking you, dear Mr. President [of Turkey], to use your influence to save and free my husband, Viktor Medvedchuk," Marchenko said in a video address published on social media.

Medvedchuk's wife has also asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to release her husband.

"I, Oksana Marchenko, the wife of Ukrainian parliamentarian Viktor Medvedchuk, am calling on President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. I am asking you to take all necessary measures to release my husband Medvedchuk illegally detained by the SBU [Security Service of Ukraine]," Marchenko said in a video published on social networks.

She said she does not doubt that her husband's prosecution is politically motivated.
