Switzerland decides to adopt new EU sanctions on Russia

PARIS. April 13 (Interfax) - The Swiss Federal Council decided on Wednesday to adopt the fifth package of sanctions imposed earlier in April by the European Union on Russia and Belarus.

"On 13 April, the Federal Council took the decision to adopt the new EU sanctions against Russia and Belarus," the Swiss government said in a press release.

This decision does not apply to the EU measures concerning the closure of ports for Russian ships, as well as overland transport of goods, because trucks and ships from Russia in practice already cannot get access to Swiss territory, it said.
