Ukraine receives first batch of Europe's aid via Energy Community Secretariat to repair energy infrastructure

KYIV. April 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The first batch of emergency equipment coordinated by the Secretariat of the Energy Community and intended to help repair damaged energy infrastructure has arrived in Ukraine from Europe.

"The Secretariat is doing everything within its power to help keep the lights on in Ukraine. The emergency supplies delivered will help safeguard access to energy for the people of Ukraine," Director of the Energy Community Secretariat Artur Lorkowski was quoted as saying in a statement published on the organization's website on Monday evening.

The Ukraine Support Task Force is working closely with the Ukrainian Energy Ministry, which is compiling the list of urgent requests of critical energy infrastructure operator companies, according to the statement.

"Based on the list, deliveries from Norway, Spain and Switzerland, coordinated by the Secretariat, are almost ready for departure. The Secretariat is working with its partners on the delivery of additional supplies from Italy, Germany, France, UK, Sweden, Latvia, the Netherlands and beyond," it said.

The delivery of the shipment was facilitated by the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP), the Secretariat said. The logistics are organized within the framework of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM).

IOGP Regional Director for Europe Francois-Regis Mouton, for his part, said that the association, whose core values are solidarity and safety, is proud to leverage its member companies' collective skills and resources to assist Ukraine.
