MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax) - The company Likeme Pte. Ltd. (social network Likee), registered in Singapore, has opened its office in Russia under the law on the "grounding" of foreign Internet companies, according to data from the Russian telecoms watchdog Roskomnadzor

"Creating a branch, or opening an office, or founding a Russian legal entity. Done," the agency said on its website.

The company earlier registered an account on the Roskomnadzor site and opened on its sites a form for feedback from Russian users.

Thus, the company has fulfilled three initial requirements of the grounding law.

A law that compels large foreign IT companies with a daily Russian audience of 500,000 or more to open their representative offices in Russia, to register their accounts on the Roskomnadzor website and to fulfil some other requirements before January 1, 2022 was signed on July 1, 2021. In case of violation of these requirements, Roskomnadzor may penalize a perpetrator in one or several ways, including partial or full blocking of the resource in Russia.
