Special operation in Ukraine may end in foreseeable future - Peskov

MOSCOW. April 8 (Interfax) - The goals of the Russian special operation in Ukraine are being achieved both in the military field and in the negotiating process, so the operation may be over in the foreseeable future, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Journalists asked Peskov on Friday to clarify a statement regarding the end of the special operation he made on Thursday: whether he implied the coming days or the foreseeable future. "This is a matter of the foreseeable future," Peskov said.

As to why he thinks so, Peskov said, "The operation is in progress, and its objectives are being achieved. Substantive work is being done by the military, who is carrying on the operation, and the negotiators who are in talks with their Ukrainian vis-a-vis," he said.
