Citizens of Russia, Belarus open about 12,000 banks accounts in Kazakhstan since Feb 24

ALMATY. April 8 (Interfax) - Residents of Russia and Belarus have opened 11,940 bank accounts in Kazakhstan's banks since February 24, 2022, the Kazakh Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market said in a statement.

The number of individual accounts that Russian and Belarussian citizens have with the Kazakh banks now totals 162,000, according to the statement.

Since the end of February, another seven companies incorporated in Russia have opened bank accounts in Kazakhstan, bringing the total number of Russian companies that have corporate accounts with the Kazakhstan-based banks to 805, the statement says.
