Pavel Sorokin appointed first deputy energy minister

MOSCOW. April 8 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has signed an order promoting Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin to the position of first deputy energy minister.

As deputy minister, Sorokin's brief included the oil and gas department, government policy department and digital transformation.

In his new position, Sorokin will oversee the oil and gas sector, including gasification of Russia's regions, as well as strategic development, climate and hydrogen energy.

Mishustin recently signed a resolution that increased the number of possible deputy energy ministers from five to six, and allows the Energy Ministry to have up to 12 departments instead of ten.
