EU sanctions against Russian, Belarusian road transport not to apply to drugs, food

BRUSSELS. April 8 (Interfax) - The fifth package of EU sanctions bans cargo transportation by Russian and Belarusian road transport yet the ban does not apply to drugs and food.

"Derogations are nonetheless granted for a number of products, such as pharmaceutical, medical, agricultural and food products, including wheat, and for road transport for humanitarian purposes," a press release, published on the Council of the European Union website, said.

In addition, the sanctions do not apply to road transport carrying humanitarian cargo.
