Ukrainian economy needs to be stabilized - Zelensky

KYIV. April 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The Ukrainian economy needs to be stabilized, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Everything should be done to restore the operation of enterprises, trade, and small and medium companies in every Ukrainian region where this is possible and safe, Zelensky said.

"The economy is yet another frontline where we are fighting for our freedom, our state and our people. Thus, we should continue to search for ways of adapting to changing circumstances," Zelensky said in a video address early on Thursday morning.

The central authorities, government officials, local heads, and political and business communities "should be highly creative and bold in dealing with economic problems," he said.

"All of us need to find ideas and solutions in order to stabilize the national economy," Zelensky said.

Whenever the economic recovery requires relocation of enterprises, update of laws and broader space for business maneuver, the parliament should do it as fast as it can, he said.

"This needs to be done in order to relaunch economic processes and to restore a normal life as much as security levels allow it. This applies to the entire level of local authorities - mayors and deputies of city and regional councils. Do find solutions for every district, for every region! Do it together with the government, together with us, the Office of the President and deputies of the Verkhovna Rada. A working economy is as important as a strong army," Zelensky said.
